The territory of San Valentino consists of rock formations, formed between the Lower Pliocene and the Middle Miocene (14-4 million years ago), typical of the Majella area.
The ancient name of San Valentino, Castrum Petrae, testifies to the presence in its territory of numerous and "monumental" outcrops of rocks made up of geological units defined as well-cemented polygenic limestone conglomerates.
"Lu candune" of San Nicola, so called in popular language due to its location next to the church and the convent of the same name, was used and was part of the same Augustinian complex. Renovated in recent years, today it has become a magnificent "belvedere" from which you can enjoy an extraordinary "profile" of the town and the peaks of the Majella.
